Class 12

SBSTR Response

Class 11 introduces the semi-batch, stirred-tank reactors (SBSTRs). It describes them, how they are operated, and their advantages and disadvantages. It describes the modeling of batch-fed SBSTRs.

Learning Outcomes

After completing Class 12 you should…

  1. be able to list the assumptions in the ideal SBSTR design equation
  2. be able to list advantages and disadvantages of SBSTRs
  3. know that SBSTR operation often occurs in sequential stages that may transition from semi-batch to batch modes
  4. be able to identify the SBSTR design equations on the SCoRE Equation Summary
  5. be able to calculate the response of an SBSTR given sufficient information about how it is being operated
