Class 15

BSTR Operation and Sizing Analysis
Class 15 examines the use of the BSTR design equations to specify reactor size and inlet conditions. It also describes IVODEs containing an unknown initial value or constant and demonstrates how to solve them numerically.

- Understand
- to solve a set of IVODEs that contain an unknown, uncomputable initial value or constant a second final value, in addition to the stopping criterion, is needed
- an unknown, uncomputable initial value or constant appearing in a set of IVODEs can be linked to a final value using an implicit ATE.
- to solve an implicit ATE for the unknown initial value or constant, the residual function provided to the ATE solver must call an IVODE solver internally
